The next days became harder than Jora thought. Not that she had to catch some food for two now, no, Jade wanted that Jora would catch every second day some animals for Tanny and also collected fruits
especially the animals were a nightmare for the little clumsy blonde giantess. Humans were a lot easier to catch because one simple fact; they had bad senses.
They didn't hear Jora most of the time when she was sneaking around, they talked to each other loud enough that she could locate them and they always tried to escape with logic
which most of the time never worked and so Jora had an easy way to get some food. But these animals she should hunt
were nightmares. They were like bulls and they were grazing the most time at some special glades.
The biggest problem was, that nature made these creatures paranoid
everytime Jora tried to sneak closer, they recognized here and got panic, the result was that Jora jumped forward and tried to catch one or two but they were too fast and spread in all directions. The only thing she got after these moments were bruises all over her body and it was frustrating. She couldn't imagine how Jade was able to catch these creatures more than one time in a week. To collect to fruits was more easy and Tanny seemed to like them very much, Jora did so too but they would never be enough her to satisfy her appetite.
But another big problem was Tanny's point of view about special subjects and one of these subjects had a name: Viola. When Jora turned back from collecting some fruits, Tanny was sitting in front of her and stared down to the human mage, her eyes narrow and she shook her head.
"No,no,no,no,no!" she said and crossed her hands and then she was looking into the air like there would be something even more interesting than Viola.
Viola herself was looking annoyed to Jora and the blonde giantess could have sworn that a vein was pulsing at her forehead. "Jora
could you PLEASE explain this stubborn kid how reality works?!" she asked hissing.
Jora raised an eyebrow and turned her head to the sitting girl, she was at least glad that Tanny respected her wish not to eat Viola, even if she knew that the child wanted to try it a few times when Jora turned her back to her. "Tanny
what's going on here?" she asked and sighed a little.
Tanny pointed to Viola with one finger like she did something very bad. "She said that she and the other tiny creatures are like us! She's lying! She also said that they can understand us and they can speak, that's even more lying!"
"But I'm speaking and you do understand me!" Viola replied annoyed.
"Yeah you can speak, but just because Jora taught it to you! You are a little pet that had to learn our language! It's a lie that the other can speak like we do!" Tanny said and moved her lips forward to make a grim.
Jora sighed, of course she didn't know much about Tanny's home, she didn't want to ask her too much now because it seemed like she only remembered at home while she was sleeping and the last thing Jora needed was a crying child at midday, but now she had to do something
why the hell Jade wasn't here?
Viola isn't my pet
she is a free person that can go wherever she wants to and whenever she wants to.
You see, the humans here, and also the nekos and other smaller creatures, are intelligent beings like you and me
they are just smaller than we are
you see?" she smiled friendly.
Of course it ended like always; Tanny began to cross her arms, stood up and ran into the cave were she was sulking half the day because Jora tried to explain something to her. The girl was very difficult but Jora also didn't know what to do against this.
Viola was looking after Tanny and shook her head. "You know, I could shrink her to my size and teach her a lesson or two ..." she said and grumbled.
"No Viola. She promised not to eat you and you promise me not to change her in any kind, okay? I
think I have just to talk to her again later
or whatever. It seems like she really believes in all this "Humans are mindless creatures" stuff
but I have an idea
even if this idea isn't very nice for the humans I need for it.
"I think she just need a smack and somebody who tells her what's right or wrong." the human mage replied and was looking back to Jora. "I mean she is watching me all the day when you are away like I'm something unnatural
and the she come closer and is examining me like there is something with my body or anything else and then she begins to explain to me how stupid I should be, that I would belong into her stomach and making her giggle before I fill her
and that I should be ashamed that I speak
hellooohooo? Something is really wrong with her."
Now Jora had to smile. "I know you will hate me for this but you have to take an eye on her while I'm looking for some humans
if I've got enough luck I will reach the trading route fast enough and get some humans." and without waiting for an answer she left Viola alone at the cave.
The young mage was sitting the most time in front of the cave and meditated. She thought about past moments, wrong and right decisions and about her future. She felt calm and free but then she suddenly opened her eyes as something began to hold her at her robe and lifted her up without problems.
Viola struggled hard before she was turned around and was staring into the face of Tanny who was watching her like she would think about how tasty Viola could be.
"Let me down! If you try to eat me I swear you will regret it Tanny!" she said and her eyes became narrow.
"I don't want to eat you! I've promised Jora not to harm you and promises should never be broken by anybody! I just want to look!"
"Look for what?!" Viola struggled around while Tanny was moving her around and examining her from every direction.
"Looking what's different with you
is there anywhere a second head that helps you thinking and speaking like us?" she turned Viola head down and the Mage began to hiss annoyed before Tanny let her down and was blinking disappointed. "There is no second head ..."
"Of course there isn't a second head! Why the hell do you think I couldn't speak like you just because I'm smaller?!"
your brain is smaller!" Tanny said and like it was the all explaining answer she stood up and went back to the cave, leaving Viola sitting in the dirt alone, who was just blinking confused. Did this girl really believed what she was talking?!
To her own luck Jora didn't take very long and only an hour later the bigger giantess was coming back through the bushes. Viola could see that her hands were closed and this meant that she had caught some humans. Poor bastards but Viola didn't feel real mercy for them, like Jora she was the meaning that if somebody came voluntary to such a dangerous world, death was an option to everybody.
Viola didn't tell Jora what happened because the blonde giantess had enough to do calming down the two humans before she called for Tanny who walked outside the cave and smiled happy when she saw one human in Jora's opened right hand. She just wanted to grab the young man when Jora pulled her own hand back.
"No Tanny, not that quick!" she said
"Why not?! That's something to eat!" she protested but Jora's expression seemed to be stern enough that Tanny became silent. The human inside Jora's hand was pale and trembling, poor bastard, normally he would be history within moments but Viola could guess what Jora was planning.
"You see this human in my hand?" she asked and as Tanny nodded, she nodded too. "Okay, I've caught this human just a few minutes ago
I don't know him and he doesn't know me but he can speak
say hello, human."
The trembling humans was blinking to Tanny and his voice was even more trembling. "H...h...h..hello..."
Tanny was rising an eyebrow "Why is he able to speak? Another pet?" she asked confused.
Jora shook her head. "No Tanny, that's what I wanted to show you
the humans are intelligent beings. He can understand us, he can speak our language
and he's got also a name. How is your name human?"
"H...H...H...Ho...o..o...ward" Howard replied.
"Is he broken? He speaks strange ..." Tanny leaned forward and examined the human closer.
"No he is just nervous because he fears to end in your stomach. Look Tanny I know you have another sight of all this but do you believe me now that humans aren't dumb insects?" Jora asked and was looking to Tanny who seemed to think.
their brains are so small, how can they be so intelligent like we are?" she asked a little helpless and Jora smiled soft in reply.
"Because size doesn't matter always
and now, you can go human." she said to Howard and sat him down to the ground. Howard seemed to think about a few minutes about his lucky fate before he began to run away as fast as he could.
"HEY! He can't go away, he has to go into my belly!" Tanny said and she first wanted to follow the fleeing human when Jora hold her at her shoulder.
"No, HE won't be your meal because he helped me to prove you what I told you. But well ..." and Jora opened her hand and presented another male human "... you can have this one"
Tanny smiled happy, stretched out her hand and picked up the human, but instead of throwing him without any words into her mouth, she was examining him. "Do you understand me, human?" she asked and as the human nodded she continued "How's your name?"
." he whispered fearful.
"Okay John. I believe you that you can understand me and that you are clever enough to speak. And so I'm sorry but you have to go down into my belly now, okay?"
John who started to have some home gulped by her words and then Tanny threw him inside her mouth and gulped him down with one swallow, patting her belly and smiled. "Thank you Jora!" She said and turned around just to walk back to the cave, probably to enjoy the struggling human inside her stomach and then she would take a nap, like always.
unexpected." Viola said and Jora just smiled.
"I don't know how much she realized what she was just talking but it's a first step." the blond giantess replied.
"Tell me Jora
what was the reason for all this "humans are intelligent beings"? Do you want to get her away from eating humans like Jade?"
Jora shook her head. "No
I don't think this would work, even if she is young, she ate all her life humans and she is familiar with this. But I hope I can get her on a
similar path to my own. There are enough humans on Felarya that are willingly here
she should eat them and not the innocents who got lost here.
And beside this
I was a human too in the past; I want her to respect living beings more than now. Think about what could happen when she still has this ideas in the future and she catches some children
I wouldn't be sure that she really would let them go away. It's just a small step but
well at least it is one step."
Now Viola began to smile "A week before when you saw the girl the first time I could see the horror inside your eyes and now you are thinking about her future
" she began to laugh and Jora just wanted to reply something, when her stomach began to growl.
. seems like I have to get something to eat for me again ..." she mumbled and turned around. But while she was sneaking through the jungle she thought about Viola's words and she was right: She started to like the little girl and she would help her to learn more and more about some things.
And then she suddenly heard voices ...
