To sit on the shoulder of somebody … that was a imagination she never thought that it would become real one day but this day was there. She was looking beside into the face of Jade but the giantess was looking straight forward and her eyes were emotionless than ever.
Since a half week she was now traveling with Jade and the most time both were sitting there in silence and following the own thoughts. Lira was a little disappointed; she really hoped that Jade would start to talk a little with her new small companion but she preferred to be on her own, she never gave Lira a real chance to start a chat and while they were walking she had to be careful that nothing would cross their way that could become dangerous.
Her search for gems Lira forgot all the time, she never looked down to her small computer, there were more important things to think about, like the question why Jade wasn't so cold to her and what she was looking for in such a world like Ferendar. The whole planet was a big desert with very few woods and very much predators.
This evening they were camping at empty and wide space, Jade explained shortly that it was too dark to travel around anymore and that they had to rest here. Now the giantess was sitting again just there and stared into the darkness, not saying one word and Lira began to sigh, this couldn't go on in this away.
“Jade?” she asked carefully and even through the darkness she could see how the young giantess was closing her eyes for a few seconds.
“What?” she asked shortly
“Why are you here? I mean … I don't see any good reason for a giantess to stay at a world like this where just big worms and insects are living.” Lira didn't really believe that Jade would give her an answer but to her own surprise Jade blinked and said.
“Because I have to be here … and maybe later somewhere else … it is my … burden.” there was something heavy in her voice and the first time the cold and egoistic tone was vanished, she didn't know why but Jade also looked away from the small human sitting in front of her.
“What … burden?” Lira asked carefully and all the time she was looking up into the direction were she knew Jade's face was … even if her neck was hurting from looking up to her all the time.
Jade didn't answer for a long time, she was just staring away then her body began to tremble, just short, but very good visible for the small Lira and the voice of the giantess became more silence. “My burden to purge for something terrible I did in the past … my burden to safe humans like you from their safety death through other predators.”
This was really a small surprise and for a few seconds Lira's mouth stood open very wide and a question was burning at her tongue but she didn't know if she really should ask it. But before she could decide Jade was looking down to her
“Three years ago I killed a whole village of humans … I was hungry and I attacked them … but in my hunger, in my rage … I didn't stop after I was full. One or two humans were enough usually but I ate more and more and with every human I became more brutal, I chewed them into pieces and after I was too full to swallow anything I just crushed their bodies under my feet.
I killed everything, no matter if man, woman or child I was insane I was in a rush of blood and hunger. After this day, after I realized what I did … I swore to atone this massacre, to clean my soul again and I never ate a human before. I still don't like your kind like my own … and that's why I just help them and leave them normally alone … but I don't want to see you become food for something bigger. That's why I'm here … that's why I'm alone because no other of my kind understand my thinking and no predator will ever accept this goal.”
Lira didn't know what she should say. While Jade was explaining how she killed these people her mind imagined how Jade could do something and a shiver ran through her whole body. Jade was a predator in the past and now … she became something else, a protector.
Lira opened her mouth to say anything but Jade didn't look at her, she just laid down, lifted Lira with one of her hands and held her close to her own body. It was the second time she was doing this on her own … and Lira knew the giantess just wanted to have somebody close to her.
“And why are you here … alone?” Jade asked, whispering without looking at Lira.
The small human blinked and the monotone answer was just “Because life made me lonely ...” and then she closed her eyes to sleep.
To have friends is something very nice and important. But you have always to decide between friends and people who are just dissembling their friendship to you. This was a important lesson Lira learned after she became more famous with her jewelery work.
Suddenly people she didn't speak to for years appeared, invited her to meetings, parties and other things, she became popular and first she was happy that the time when she was separated and lonely just to learn and specialize her own skills, was now over and people started to like her. She met very many people, those who called her friend or even best friend.
But Lira had to realize very soon that this was just a world of illusions. After some time all her “friends” came to her, asking if she could do such jewels them for cheap prices or maybe for free and if she told them that this wasn't possible … they drop her.
All these “friends” were backbiting behind her back, where jealous and just wanted to have her money … and this was one of the reasons why she left the earth, why she started to wander through the worlds … lonely.
Jade opened her eyes and looked down to the sleeping Lira. It was dark and she felt dizzy but something let her wake up. Lira was lying there peacefully close to her body, her chest was moving up and down and something began to awake inside Jade, something old, something that hidden all the time.
While she was watching Lira it was like a silent voice inside her head … After so long time … don't you think you deserved a little snack? … she blinked, her own thoughts, her own thinking, no, she shouldn't follow these thoughts … Just one taste … you will see how wonderful she will taste like. Think about this; you saved so many humans the last years, you all let them go and went your way, but not this girl. You know you want to do it and you know she want it too, otherwise she wouldn't come with you. It's just one human … this can't be sooo bad, just drop her into your mouth, you will see how wonderful it is ...
Jade stared down at Lira, her mouth became wet, she felt how her stomach began growl a little, it would be so easily … just one moment and then … “No!” she whispered harsh and closed her eyes, no she wouldn't do this, never again, NEVER!
This human girl decided to stay at her side because she trusted Jade and … she was some kind of friend to her … no she wouldn't do this. She laid down again, fought against these thoughts, against the suppressed hunger and appetite … and she won.
As Lira woke up she was lying still close to Jade who was still sleeping. Carefully she stood up and walked a little away from the giantess sin direction of her own backpack that was lying a little away. She began to open it and took out her I.D.C and activated it maybe she would see something interesting.
“Computer scan the area for rare resources only ...” she said still a little dizzy and let the computer do his work, she didn't believe that she would find a jewel of this class on a world like this. Of course this planet was known for many jewels but not for some rare and very special so why should just Lira have such a luck?
A loud beeping sound interrupted her thoughts and she stared at the screen while her eyes became bigger and bigger, there was one point blinking not too far away from her.
She took a view to Jade, she was still sleeping and the distance wasn't too far … she would have enough time … and so she took her backpack and walked into the direction of the blinking point and she shouldn't be disappointed …. not a little.
A few hours later Jade woke up too and she sat up, she smacked tired and let her eyes wander around. Lira was sitting close to her and smiled happy as she woke up “Good morning Jade, slept well?” she asked and looked up to her. The giantess was nodding and rubbed her eyes.
“Yeah … had a little … strange … kind of a dream but it's okay. Do you are ready to continue our travel?” she asked but this time Lira shook her head.
“I have to please you to stay a while here at this place, if this would be possible Jade.” she answered and with a smile she watched how Jade began to look down in confusion.
“Why ... we should? There is no reason to stay here.” she asked
“Mh well, there is a reason but I can't tell you.” Lira answered and Jade's brows became narrow and she even looked a little distrustful. Lira raised her hands “Please Jade I can't explain it to you right now, please trust me, okay? It isn't something bad.”
Trust me … Jade stared at Lira and something inside her told her that it would be stupid but there was also something different … something that let her decide the last night to show mercy to Lira and this part of her became stronger and stronger … and she would trust her friend. “Okay, I trust you … how long you want to stay here?”
“Four days maybe … I need to work on something, not far away from here. Oh and I have a request … I saw you have made your clothes of a strange … material. Do you have still something of this? A little longer band?”
Now Jade was really confused and blinked curiously. “Well … yes, from time to time I have to fix my clothing and so I have always a few of this with me but for what do you want to have this?” she said while she was opening the only small pocket at her skirt that was sewed inside this and took out something of the cloth and laid it down.
Lira was blinking at the material that was even bigger than she was. “It's … a surprise and if I would tell you, it wouldn't be a surprise anymore, mh?” she asked smiling and then she began to pull the cloth behind herself and vanished with a good mood smile and left a confused Jade alone.
The next days were like a small challenge for the young giantess. Lira left her alone the most time, she just came back from time to time to eat something or to make a break from whatever she was doing. Then they talked together but she never said any word about her word.
Sometimes Jade had to refuse the demand to take a look what Lira was doing but she gave her small friend a promise and she wouldn't break it. Impatiently she was wandering around, collecting something to eat, explored the area and then she turned back … the day became a little torture she didn't know since her childhood and this torture was called anticipation.
Finally after five days Lira was coming back and waved smiling with one hand that Jade should follow her. The giantess stood up and then they reached a very unspectacular point in the middle of the rock desert but then Jade saw something lying at the ground … it was a stone, a green stone that was as big as Lira and the human was standing beside it. The cloth Jade gave her before was fixed at the stone and Lira was grinning.
“You see, this is I was working on. When I found this stone he was two times bigger than me and well … very bulky.” she explained and gave the stone a small clap and looked up. “It is a headband I made … as I found this stone well I had to think about your eyes, they are the same color. Try if it suits you.”
Jade was staring at the headband and the stone in the middle. Very carefully she was lifting it and watched it before she began to pull the band around her head so that the shining and glancing gem was in the middle of her forehead. She looked down to Lira and wanted to ask something but Lira raised a hand.
“I've made this for you … it was pretty hard to change this stone to your size you know? But this should be a symbol for our friendship … forever!” she said.
Friendship … Jade's fingers began to glide over the stone and she felt how tears were flowing over her face, no tears of sadness like the last years … tears of happiness. She looked down To Lira, lifted her up right in front of her face and whispered “Best friends … forever” and pressed her against her chest.
Best friends … yeah, that what they should be … until the end!

Felarya: Friends of Flowers
The warm rays of sunlight filtered down through the leaves of the trees, warming the countless organisms that basked in its radiant glow, from the tiniest microbes that flourished in a single drop of dew rolling from the stem of a flower, to the vast creatures that grew to the size of a billion lesser beings, yet considered themselves in no way superior life forms.
Though out of all the forms of life that drew breath and swam in the ocean of light that filled the forests, there are few that can rival the true appreciation felt by the bloom dryads
and by one in particular. She felt the energy flowing through her, the simple beams of inc

A Friend in a Strange World Chapter 1
The giant guards standing near the podium waited as the humans approached, toting their prisoner for the exchange in a bared cage. He would be the expendable one that would be like a...gift, to the giant prince, who had no others his age to really be with. It was a good exchange...better than just killing the sentenced human. Hopefully it would work out well.
Inside of the cage, Cyril sat despondently, not paying much attention to his passing surroundings. He tried to hope that living with this prince would be better than having his head cut off, but he just couldn't convince himself.
One of the guards shot him a brief, pitying glance as on
